Payment and shipping modules: Montonio and carriers
A common online store worry is that payments come from one module, parcel lockers from another and couriers from a third. Each has its own settings, keys and updates. When one breaks, part of the checkout stops working.
Short answer: in NUNDINAE, payment and shipping solutions are inside the system. Montonio provides bank links, card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and with the same keys the carriers SmartPost, Omniva, DPD and others. Bank transfer is always there as a fallback, and you can add your own shipping methods, such as "I'll pick it up myself".
Payment modules
Montonio. At checkout the customer sees their bank's logo. Estonian banks are supported (Swedbank, SEB, LHV, Luminor, Coop, Citadele and others), as well as card payments, Apple Pay and Google Pay. You can choose the bank-link country: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania or Finland. The setup is covered in more detail in Montonio in an online store.
Bank transfer. The customer sees the payment details on the thank-you page and the order waits until you mark the money as received. It stays at checkout even if Montonio happens to be down.
How a payment works. An order becomes paid only when Montonio sends a confirmation to the server, not when the browser returns. That's when the invoice is created, the customer gets the invoice email and stock goes down. If the customer cancels at the bank, they can pay again from the order page. If they don't pay, the goods are released on their own.
POS and bookings. An online booking's prepayment goes through the same Montonio, and with a free cancellation the money is refunded automatically. On site you mark cash, card, gift card or a split payment at the POS.
What about Stripe?
Stripe is a strong choice if you sell a lot abroad or need card payments in different currencies. In NUNDINAE, the payment service is a separate module behind a common interface, so a service can be added without redoing the rest of the shop. What's ready and in use right now is Montonio and bank transfer. If you need Stripe, write to me and you and I can agree on that development.
Shipping modules
Carriers through Montonio. You activate a carrier in the Montonio Partner System. A NUNDINAE table shows which carriers are switched on there, and "+ Add shipping method" turns them into checkout options. No separate keys are needed. The system recognises SmartPost, Omniva, DPD, Venipak, Unisend, Latvijas Pasts and Itella. The choice depends on what Montonio offers in your country. You can use Montonio's contract or your own carrier contract.
- Parcel locker. The list updates itself every night. The customer searches for a locker by city, and the one last chosen comes first.
- Courier. Only then does checkout ask for an address.
- Shipment. From the order, "Create shipment" and "Print label": A6 for a label printer or A4 for a sheet. "Tracking" shows the status and leads to the carrier's page.
Your own shipping methods. "I'll pick it up myself" and a manually dispatched courier work without a carrier. With an on-site shipping method, no address is asked for.
Prices. You set a shipping method's price, free shipping threshold, country and weight limits. So goods under 20 kg can go at the regular price and heavy goods at a higher one. At checkout the customer sees how much is missing for free shipping, and a progress bar shows it right after adding to the basket.

What it costs
On top of NUNDINAE's fees comes the Montonio price list (as of 1 November 2026, excluding VAT):
| Starter | Core | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly fee | €11.99 | €14.99 |
| Bank payment | €0.20 | €0.05 |
| European consumer card payment | 1.49% + €0.25 | 1.29% + €0.20 |
Shipping through Montonio starts from €1.99 per parcel. Connecting your own carrier contract costs €5 per carrier per month on the Core plan. Check the exact prices on Montonio's site. I made a worked example of the total cost in online store, stock, POS, bookings: the monthly cost.
What isn't there
Let me say right away what works differently:
- A shipment can only be cancelled in the Montonio Partner System, not in NUNDINAE.
- A refund for an online store order is made in the Montonio Partner System. Only a prepayment refund on free cancellation is automatic.
- The shipment status doesn't change the order status on its own. "Tracking" asks for the status at the moment you press it.
- A card payment at the POS is marked manually. There is no payment terminal interface.
Frequently asked questions
Are the keys stored securely?
Yes. Keys are saved encrypted and nobody, not even an administrator, can see them after saving. Changes go into the audit log.
Can I test before real payments?
Yes. Montonio has separate test and live keys. No money moves during testing, and the admin has a "Check connection" button.
Can I use Omniva without SmartPost?
Yes. You choose in Montonio only the carriers you want.
Can I add some other payment service?
Yes, as development work. Write to me about which service you need and why. Let's see whether it's worth it.
