The book “The Story of the House Without a House (sequel)”
We have received a new book back from the printing house. This time on the theme The Story of the House Without a House (sequel), produced together with the Tallinn House of Scientists and commissioned for the House's 50th anniversary.
ArborIT OÜ was responsible for the layout, photo editing and text processing.
What makes an anniversary book different
A book made for an anniversary differs from an ordinary title in one important respect: the deadline is fixed and cannot be moved. That means the layout has to run in parallel with the content being finished, and every late addition has to be worked in without knocking the rhythm of the rest of the book out of place.
The second difference is the photographs. In a historical publication a large share of the images come from archives and private collections — scanned, of varying quality and often damaged. Before layout they have to be brought to a consistent level, otherwise the book looks patchy.
Other publications for the same client
From the Majata Maja series we have also laid out the third part, published for the House's 55th anniversary, as well as the same client's volume “On the Survival of the Estonian Nation”.
